As much as I love cooking I LOVE finding delicious dishes while dining out even more. The best part is it doesn't dirty up my kitchen.

Ashley Top 100 Dishes to Try
The Alabama Department of Tourism has a list of "100 Dishes to Eat in Alabama Before You Die". You should check out the brochure. Their list inspired me to create my own list of top 100 dishes I recommend you try. My list has a variety of establishments from Mom & Pop to chains. I love every dish on this list and I hope there's a little here for everyone
(FYI: This list is still being compiled.).

Ziti Campagnoli
From Francesco's Italian Restaurant and Pizzaria in Decatur, Al
The Ziti Campagnoli made with moist and tender chicken, mushrooms, & spinach in a delicious, garlicky, white wine sauce over ziti pasta is WONDERFUL. The flavor was earthy with the spinach and mushrooms, not too overpowered with garlic, and perfect for a warm summer day. The sauce was worth sopping with one of their homemade rolls.

Single Gravy with Egg
From Jack’s Hamburgers
I’ve searched high and low for a better biscuit and gravy and amazingly this fast food chain rocks it out far above others I’ve tried. Even more, I can get it without sausage which is my favorite part. Get it with a side of egg which is perfectly scrambled and you’ve got one delicious breakfast.
Windy City Panini
From Chappy's Deli in Montgomery, Al
The Windy City was layered with ham, pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, grilled onions, bell peppers, portabella mushrooms, black olives, and marinara sauce on a hoagie roll. All of the flavors melded perfectly with each ingredient adding a hint of flavor without one overpowering the rest.

French Dip
From Duffy's Delicatessen in Huntsville, Al
The French dip comes piled high with thinly sliced, tender roast beef and melted provolone cheese. The roast beef didn't have a trace of fat. The hoagie roll was perfectly crusty which is necessary for a good French dip to hold up to the au jus. The generous cup of au jus was very good and not too salty.
Orange Cake
From Dutch Oven Bakery in Falkville, Al
I LOVE orange flavored baked goods and this pound cake was by far the BEST I've ever had...fluffy, flavorful, and moist. I told my husband he better be glad I only drive by there every two weeks or I'd spend all my money on the orange pound cake. The cake was ~$3.79 for a small pound cake. I've paid more for less for other orange baked goods and this is the best quality.
Lemon Pepper Wings
From Exotic Wings in Pinson, Al
The wings are fried to order, meaty enough, and well coated in seasoning. My favorite is the lemon pepper because they are a little salty, a little sour, and have a little heat.
Grilled Chicken Nachos
From BB Perrins Barbecue in Decatur, Al
Freshly fried tortilla chips topped with a white cheese sauce, grilled chicken, lettuce and tomato, BBQ sauce, salsa, sour cream, and jalapenos. It's on the appetizer menu and it's a great value because it's a huge portion. If you're not wanting to roll out of the restaurant after eating them then ask for a half portion. And don't snarl your nose at the BBQ sauce and salsa combo, it's good and it actually works!

Burrito de Chili Colorado
From Buenavista Mexican Cantina in Cullman, Al
The Burrito de Chili Colorado is worth bragging about. If you're looking for a super flavorful, spicy, non typical-Americanized Mexican dish this is the one to try.
It's a burrito filled with tender, fall apart pork, onions, and peppers then topped with a spicy chili sauce and gooey cheese which balance each other beautifully..

Pasta Ravioli
From Carlton's Italian in Cullman, Al
Pasta Ravioli described as "pasta stuffed with shrimp and Andouille sausage and surrounded by Carlton's mild cream sauce and topped with mozzarella cheese". OH MY GOSH it was so good! The ravioli stuffing was unique and savory with a hint of shrimp flavor and a mild smokiness from the Andouille sausage. The sauce was so creamy and luscious with perfect saltiness from the cheese. I loved the browned, bubbly cheese from the broiling of the dish just before serving, the flavor paired wonderfully with the smokiness of the Andouille.

Philly Cheesesteak
From Montagu's in Florence, Al
Based on all the reviews I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak, thank you fellow Yelpers! It was delicious.
I'm not sure what they're putting on the meat, some kind of marinade like Moore's, but it was dripping with this tasty stuff. So much so that while it was wrapped up in paper it dripped and covered the outer surfaces of the bread creating a 'dipped' style sandwich. OMG y'all.
The onions and peppers were perfectly cooked, not too overpowering, and adding just the right amount of flavor.
The provolone cheese, yes provolone not the typical processed cheese, was perfectly melty and gooey.
WARNING: The Philly could be addicting.

Chips and Cheese Dip
From Speedy's Mexican Food in Hueytown, Al
Their chips are thin and crispy with a YUMMY seasoning. The Speedy's cheese dip is wonderful. It's like that cheap yellow cheese sauce but they add that delicious seasoning to it and I could slurp it with a straw. Be sure if you want jalapenos you get them on the side because they take up too much room in the container and you get less cheese dip. And then also be sure to share some with me.

German Chocolate or Bavarian Cream Donut
From Donut Joes in Gardendale, Al
The german chocolate (pictured top rights) is a chocolate cake donut topped with sweet chocolate icing, coconut, and chopped pecans. Delectable.
The Boston cream (pictured bottom left) is a custard filled donut topped with chocolate icing. This one will have you licking your fingers.
Vegetable Plate
From Isaiah's Restaurant in Montgomery, Al
I love the field peas, green beans, mashed potatoes, and fried corn with cornbread. The vegetables are just so good and much like the home cooked meals I'm used to having at Momma's. A lot of places just don't know how to get the veggies right but Isaiah's sure does.

Po Boy and homemade chips
From The Big Easy in Athens, Al
The Po Boys here are full of flavor and sit atop a delicious roll of French bread. The bread is flaky on the outside and so soft on the inside I could have used it as a pillow. They told me they get it from Gambino's Bakery in New Orleans. It tasted so fresh I couldn't believe it wasn't right out of the oven. The remoulade is an excellent addition of Cajun flavor and perfect with the griilled shrimp.
The homemade potato chips where perfectly crisp and seasoned.

Chicken Salad Sandwich
From Let's DO Lunch in Decatur, Al
Chicken salad sandwich on whole wheat you were delicious. The chicken salad is unlike others I've had at restaurants. It appears to be only a mixture of mayo, chicken, and pepper but when you bite into it more flavors show up to the party. The chicken is big, chunky, pulled pieces that are moist and tender. It really is peppery, more so than I've ever had in chicken salad and very enjoyable. I'm not sure what the other secret, invisible-to-the-eye flavors are but the concoction is perfect to give chicken all the flavor it needs. Those who hate fruit, nuts, and chunky vegetables in their ckn salad would love this version.
They make their bread in house. It was like a soft pillow of whole wheat. Definitely fresh!

Calzone or Baked Ziti with meat sauce
From Giuseppe's Cafe in Birmingham, Al
The calzones are huge and loaded with cheese and toppings. Their marinara dipping sauce is tangy and perfect for the crusty pocket.
The baked ziti with meat sauce (not pictured) is a comforting dish loaded with cheese and served with garlic bread.
El Luchador
From La Placita Mexican Restaurant in Madison, Al
It is this massive dish wrapped in tortillas that has chicken, steak, chorizo, peppers, onions, rice, and beans inside and topped with cheese and salsa verde. I could be missing something. It was huge! It fed four people well and it was so delicious we went on about it all the way back to work.

Bread and herbs
From Ricatoni's Italian Grill in Florence, Al
The bread and herbs are on the Top 100 Dishes to Try in Alabama. I giggled to myself when I was brought a little half roll of bread and a plate with dried herbs. I was a skeptic, "how could this be top 100 worthy?". Then I poured the golden river of olive oil onto the plate of herbs, dipped a piece of bread and was instantly hooked. How the heck can this blend of herbs be so dang good?? Must. Have. More.

Blackened Grouper Po'Boy and Crawfish Etouffee
From The Po oy Factory in Huntsville, Al
I was initially disappointed I couldn't get grilled shrimp on the po'boy so I settled for the blackened grouper (not pictured). But it turns out I didn't settle for anything. The grouper was delicious, full of flavor, moist, buttery, perfectly cooked, (I could go on) and a perfect fit for the flaky bread. There's an array of sauces on the table to top your sandwich so at least one should tickle your fancy.
The cup of etouffee was a small bowl but offered plenty of meat and a spicy bite that had me begging my spoon to find just one more bite. This has been my favorite of all etouffees I've tried because it has more of a gravy/roux taste than tomato.

Torta with Spicy Pork
From Taqueria El Cazador "Taco Truck" in Huntsville, Al
The soft, chewy roll layered with mayo, cilantro, lettuce, avocado, and tomato is a perfect partner for the spicy pork.

Two-piece white meat plate
From Champy's Famous Fried Chicken
The 2 piece white meat plate comes with a breast, wing, cole slaw, and baked beans.
I was shocked at the portion size of the breast and 'wing'. It wasn't a typical wing piece it was the whole arm! The breading is super crispy and you can taste a hint of spice when you get a good bite of it. The chicken was really moist, hearty, and piping hot.
The chicken sits atop a slice of white bread which soaks up all the grease. The baked beans include some kidney beans, large pieces of onions, and bacon. The cole slaw is great, a perfect combo of mayo and tang.
