Steak Stroganoff
1 lb top sirloin steak, trimmed and cubed
1 small onion, sliced
½ cup Dale’s marinade, low sodium
1 jar Heinz Savory Beef Gravy
1 can cream of mushroom soup
4 tbsp sour cream
heavy cream (optional)
1 tbsp Grill-Mates Montreal steak seasoning
2 tsp course ground black pepper
1 bag wide egg noodles, cooked and drained
¼ cup reserved pasta water
2 cups broccoli, cooked (optional)
Directions:
Marinate steak in Dale’s and steak seasoning for 30+ min.
Pour all into skillet with onions. Cook until almost all pink is gone.
Add gravy, soup, sour cream, and seasoning to taste.
Simmer until thickened and steak is done. Add pasta water; add heavy cream if creamier consistency is desired.
Gently stir in egg noodles and broccoli until coated.
This is a recipe I threw together after my husband and I first got married. The only pasta he would eat were egg noodles in Chicken Noodle Soup and spaghetti noodles. So I took some of his favorite things...steak, Dale's marinade, brown gravy, and Montreal steak seasoning and viola we now have an easy dish that he loves.
This can be a simple weeknight meal by prepping and marinating the steak and onions ahead of time. You could even cook the pasta and broccoli ahead of time and heat it through once the sauce is done. Everything else would be a dump and stir.
TIPS:
My husband DOES NOT eat his with the broccoli. So I use the Ziploc Zip n' Steam bags to cook me about 1/2 of a cup of broccoli to add to my individual serving.
The Montreal Steak seasoning can taste pretty salty if you add a lot. If you're sensitive to salty flavors then add the seasoning gradually until it meets your taste preference. Be sure to use the low sodium version of Dale's.
I've used the Brown rice pasta for this recipe (pictured) and they work great and my husband can't tell the difference. If you're cutting back on pasta then try this. And although the brown rice pasta is gluten free the sauce is not unless you find gluten free gravy and a swap for cream of mushroom soup.
